I am thankful for my childhood family. Our parents have passed away and joined their ancestors with God/ Spirit/Creator. But we kids still have each other to share memories and support each other. We are all rather scattered across the United States, as are our nieces and nephews, and cousins. But a bond remains through our memories.
My parents taught us to be good people through loving us kids and loving other people of different races, religions, and beliefs. We kids learned about God’s love and how much He loves everyone through their examples as well as through our involvement in our churches and our lives. This teaching of love has been a major influence in my life.
Then there were so many happy memories of standing around the piano as Moma played while we sang hymns, music from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. Daddy couldn’t sing or play an instrument but he seemed to revel in the times we shared around the piano. He always said, “The only thing I can play is the radio.”
I think of all the times he drove us to other states, to Canada, and Mexico to share as much of the world with us as he could. But most of all he shared his gentle nature with us as a loving father who worked to support four kids so Moma could stay home with us. I am thankful for these people and that life.
I am thankful for the marriage I had. Our dating years, the first four or five years were so wonderful. As my husband became sicker, things got harder for him and for me. But because I weathered those stormy times, I am who I am now. I am stronger, wiser, more loving, and expecting of a positive and good future. I learned how to think logically in addition to using my own natural abilities that I wasn’t even aware of before. But two of the best joys I received from our marriage was watching our baby grow into a good man and then introducing us to a second son, who we loved too.
I am so thankful for my little family: my two sons, their wives, and two grandsons and one granddaughter. I also have a grand-dog, who is a golden retriever. They remind me that I am loved. They have brought so much joy and love into my life. My grandkids are adorable. I plan to be a big part of their lives and impart some of what I have learned when they are read.
I have had a good life. I am so thankful for the life given to me. I had some very hard things to deal with but persevered and came out on the other side wiser, stronger, and a better human being. I like who I have become.
