Yes! I am older now! But I love my life, being aware of the beauty around me, remembering the memories of joy and love from my life. Knowing my life is a good one filled with wonderful family, friends, and neighbors. Now is the time for me to remember and think about my life.
I feel so much love, joy, and peace from my family and friends. I try to be the boost of love, joy, and peace for those who love me. I am thankful for my years, the wisdom that I’ve gained from my experiences of seeing beauty, watching my grandkids and children grow into good people; of experiencing pains both emotional and physical, yet handling life with strength and wisdom, thanks to God. Yet, knowing my family and friends are there to help and support me when I need them. I am also thankful for God’s guidance and help in coping with many problems along the way.
Aging doesn’t bother me yet. But people tell me I don’t look like I’m 74. I am just enjoying my life with my family, friends, and condominium neighbors. I am thankful every day to be alive and able to enjoy my life. My health is still good; with only a hip prosthesis and a bit of scoliosis in my lower back to live with. I use a cane for longer walks but can walk short distances without trouble.
I find myself being a “big sister” to younger friends sometimes, but I do have two friends who were also nurses and are ten years younger than me. We have lunch together when one is off of night duty and doesn’t have to sleep late afterward. We’ve been to the Asheboro Zoo, Busch Gardens in the past, and other places, too. I am thankful for my friends.
I am also thankful for my family. My two wonderful sons, their wonderful wives, the children of my second son, and the golden retriever of my first son and his wife. Everyone is healthy and doing well.
So, what does my future hold? There’s no way to know. My grandmothers lived to be 92 years old. Each of my parents had a form of dementia that took years to develop and proceeded to change their brains as Alzheimers and Dementia can.
So far, I am doing well. I am happy and thankful for my life and all of those who have loved and cared about me. I am not afraid of death because I know where I am going when I am gone. I just hope that people will remember me kindly and with good memories.

I’m so glad to read this joy, you’ve found your happy place and time in life. I am the same, the earlier parts of my life were not as easy, and finally I am free to be me and loving it!
