Dear Sons and Daughters,
As I get older I want to tell you how thankful I am for you all. I love each of you and your families so very much. I want to tell you some things that may help make your lives richer and may help you to find more beauty, joy, and richness in your lives as you get older.
First of all, take good care of your body to keep it as well as possible. Hopefully, you will live long lives with few if any problems. The longer you can prevent aging and physical problems, the better your lives will be.
I live in a “Gracious Senior Living” home. I have seen elderly people with blood pressure problems, heart problems, allergies, blood pressure and muscle and bone problems that have left others crippled. Take really good care of your bodies if you want to live a healthy life. Aging processes can be life threatening when not checked at least yearly.
Value your body and how it works. Protect it from injuries, eating or drinking too much or doing anything that is potentially dangerous. Your future depends on giving your minds and bodies good care. It will pay you back if it can when you get old someday like I am.
You also need to take care of your brain. It needs to never stop learning, seeing, analyzing, wondering, searching for answers, and enjoying the wonders that abound in our world.
Take good care of your eyesight. Please don’t neglect your eyes. Don’t let it become hard to read or see. Get your eyes checked yearly as you get older; a pair of glasses may make a new world of difference for you.
Another thing about eyesight is the beauty that surrounds us in nature. There are so many beautiful birds, flowers, sunsets, cloud formations and beautiful sights in the winter snows and spring greenery.
Even wonder can be found in a little bug, if you stop and watch what it does and wonder how it survives. Don’t skip a sunset if possible. You may capture a sunset or sunrise on your phones like I do. The joy of capturing beauty and sharing it with others will make you feel so good.
Take good care of your hearing. Don’t blast your ears with loud music or loud sounds, because the inner ear parts can become damaged from loud vibrations and sounds. There are so many beautiful sounds in nature like the songs of birds. If you want to know which bird is making the caĺls upload the “Birdnet” app. It will record and tell you which bird is singing. You may also love the sound of your own children or grandchildren as you get older.
Look forward to having a good, long life and love that life.
With love,
Mom

this is beautiful, joy –
