I have comfortable studio apartment in a nice Senior Living building, that I treasure more than any other spot.

After my husband passed away years ago, I bought a “Comfort Number Select” bed which I knew cost a bit but I also knew that I was going to probably need the features it possessed. Having back problems from lifting, pulling patients up in their beds, and walking up and down halls in the hospitals that I worked in, the vibrating feature of the bed has been wonderful! I might some day be sick and need the ability to raise or lower my head or legs with a button controller. So I love my bed. My husband had a life insurance policy left for me, so I used it to get what I needed.
I bought a nice head board for my bed. I had always wanted a headboard with shelves on it. So I found just the one I wanted. Later I found a chest of drawers and side tables that matched and bought them. I bought several comforters, quilts and blankets over the years to switch around through each month. I love my bed.
I bought a recliner for sitting between my bed and my window. Across from the foot of my bed is my 40 inch screen television which I can lay in bed or sit in my recliner and watch when I want to. I have heard it is not good to have electronic things in your bedroom. But for my own needs, this is the best plan.
I finally made a home for myself. I love my home. I am so blessed to be loved by my family and to love my family. I am so thankful. In 2025 I moved to a lovely senior living home that was just what I was looking for and had the right price for me. I enjoy the activities, the delicious meals which are served daily, and the people who make everything happen around here.
I have wonderful neighbors, my parked car is in view, my first son, wife, and their dog live fifty minutes west of me. We get together when we can. My second son, his wife, and three children live eighty minutes east of me. So we try to meet in a town 30 minutes away from me for lunch on a Sunday or Saturday.
I have two close friends, both were nurses. I retired in 2012. My life is good. I am thankful every day. I couldn’t ask for a better life than the one I have now.

Nice bed and the place for the cats to enjoy the goings on outside is perfect. Some days I really miss my cats.

I have a sweet little dog with special needs that takes up quite a bit of my time. So taking care of him, the house and me keeps me busy.

May I ask what Frony1969 is? I thought at first it was a nickname.

Frony is what some of my family called me when I was a child. My name is Maggie, Mags for short.

I figured out the Maggie or Mags. Frony was the mystery. Thank you.

It amazes me how caregivers (both professional and natural) do everything for others and so little for themselves. It’s time you took care of yourself, so good on you! If you live alone, I think you should extend the philosophy of ‘a space of your own’ to the whole house!

Thank you. I am enjoying my life. My sons are happily married which makes me even more happy. I sold the house we lived in and bought a condominium. I fixed it up like I wanted to and made it my home, along with my cat, Norie. Thankfully, my neighbors are all wonderful.
